Apparently I get really productive! On Wednesday night I had a hard time getting comfortable between baby kicks and restless legs and my aching back, so I just decided to say “screw it” to sleep and got out of bed. After doing a bit of night time work, I had a burst of creative energy. That’s where this came in:
My mom gave me this book as a gift a few weeks ago, because she knows how much I love sewing projects. There are tons of adorable ideas in here, and after scrounging through my fabric supply I came up with enough to do this:
The pretty as a picture dress! It was my first time using elastic in clothing (for the waistband) and I actually didn’t do too bad. I used some fabric I bought on sale at Hobby Lobby that I absolutely adore, and leftover sheet fabric from my wedding quilt.
It actually turned out pretty cute, considering I finished sewing it at 2:45 am! I followed all the rules and even pressed all my seams. That’s a big deal for me. I’m notoriously bad about skipping steps and not paying enough attention when it comes to sewing. I’m just too impatient to get it done! But I really wanted to do it right for my first baby dress, and I feel like I totally did. I cut my pattern pieces to the 3 month size, so hopefully we’ll find out this fall if it fits!
Wonder what I’ll do tonight if I get the crazy legs again…
