Knocked Off: Gallery Ledges

As you may have been able to tell by now, I’ve been on a bit of a building spree. And it’s only about to get worse, as I have a half built apothecary cabinet and Parson’s desk on my back porch! But that’s not what today is about. Today, it’s all about Ana’s Ten Dollar Gallery Ledges!

I had the perfect little nook in mind for these, just above my desk in our guest bedroom.
See what I mean? It was the perfect spot! It was practically crying out to me to add a little DIY love. I’m going to replace that desk with the one I’m building, so long as it turns out looking fabulous (which it should, I’m really taking my time on it). If it doesn’t, I plan to paint that one a fun bright color to make it more interesting. And just in case you were wondering what the whole setup looks like:
I finally cleaned and organized my craft supplies! So our guest room if really shaping up now. I want to try my hand at reupholstering soon with that glider, and we want to turn that old TV into a fishtank, and pop a flatscreen on top. How fun is that? And of course, get rid of the mister’s ugly work shirts. But it’s getting there.
Here’s a little closeup. My 4′ shelves are a bit shorter than Ana’s, and I chose nicer wood. So though they were half-size, they were still $10 each. Not too bad, considering Pottery Barn wants to charge you $55 EACH! No thank you, guys. I prefer a simple 2 hour project with a handful of screws and nails and a little elbow grease.
I had a great time picking stuff to throw on them, it will need a little editing soon though, I think I got a bit carried away! But I love how organized my desk is now, everything looks so neat and clean. The perfect environment for getting a little work done. Plus, I love that these are the base for those iconic wine ledges I’ve been wanting for forever. I think that’s another project soon to come up on my radar!
