One of the biggest surprises on our vacation was the discovery of this beautiful sea turtle poster. After our amazing excursion on Grand Cayman Island to the Sea Turtle Farm, we were walking along the shoreline shops and came across a Guy Harvey gallery. Now, as someone pretty unfamiliar with this artist, the name Guy Harvey was synonymous with ugly fish t-shirts from Academy. Which of course means he’s also one of the Husbane’s favorites. So we stopped into the store, and I was pleasantly surprised! The artwork is so, so much better than the cliché apparel. He had some gorgeous line sketches (originals were priced at $3,500) and amazing paintings. There were also some really unique drawings done on tile. But my favorites? His “Save Our Seas” poster series.
We chose the Sea Turtle since we had just had such a great time getting to know them a little better. Plus, we knew the colors would look awesome in Charlie’s teal room! Now I’m dying to collect the rest of them, because of the eye-popping colors and great modern design.
Lovely, yes? I never thought I’d be a Guy Harvey fan 😉 But the gallery totally sold me on him! Have any artists surprised you lately? Share your favorites with me so I can check them out!
