A few months ago one of my Weddingbee friends asked about getting someone to sew her a headboard. She’d seen these large stuffed cushion-like headboards at a hotel and wanted one for her own place. It looked like something I could do so I happily volunteered! It was actually a lot easier than I thought. She measured her bed, and I added an extra 10″ to the length to account for seams and frame out the bed a bit. She gave me her desired height (about 32″) and thickness (10″, but I cut it at 12″ to account for seams) and I went to town. It’s pretty much just a giant cushion. I cut two panels for the front and back, and used the scrap to cut 12″ thick strips for the center. I hid a 20″ zipper on one of the lower seams. It’s made form simple brown duck cloth I picked up at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon.
I’m sorry I don’t have better info or a tutorial for you guys! I did it so long ago that I don’t remember all the measurements. But it looks great, and would be a really fun option for an unconventional headboard! My friend filled it up with loose foam (you can buy it online) and says that it’s incredibly comfy to lean back against. Plus it’s canine-approved!
